SYNTHESIS OF SIDEROPHORES BY SOIL BACTERIA OF THE GENUS Pseudomonas UNDER VARIOUS CULTURE CONDITIONS

چکیده

The ability of six strains belonging to the genus Pseudomonas isolated from the rhizosphere of wheat to produce pyoverdin was examined. The studied strains demonstrated a varied level of production of the siderophore, depending on the culture conditions. The highest level of pyoverdin was determined after 72 hours of growth at 2025°C in iron-free medium supplemented with succinate. The synthesis of pyoverdin by all the strains studied was strongly repressed by the addition of iron ions (III) to the growth medium. Calcium, cadmium and magnesium ions stimulated the synthesis of the siderophore examined, whereas zinc and lead ions partially decreased its level. Enrichment of the growth medium in cobalt ions completely inhibited the synthesis of siderophores as well as growth of the bacteria.

Friendly Bacteria Propping up Legumes Development in Pesticide Contaminated Soil

The plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are having a crucial role in the soil fertility. However, the accumulation of various pesticides into the soil is harmful for their existence in the rhizosphere and also for their activities. The present investigation was aimed to study the friendly nature of Pseudomonas sp. in the growth promotion of some leguminous plants by its special abilitie...

Isolation and characterization of diesel-degrading Pseudomonas strains from diesel-contaminated soils in Iran (Fars province)

In this study, among the 21 diesel-degrading bacteria that were isolated from an oil-polluted area in Fars (Iran), 6 bacterial strains were tested for their capability to metabolize and grow on diesel oil by degrading its hydrocarbons content. The biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA sequence analysis of diesel-degrading bacteria showed that these strains were related to the genus Pseudomon...

The heterologous siderophores ferrioxamine B and ferrichrome activate signaling pathways in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa secretes two siderophores, pyoverdine and pyochelin, under iron-limiting conditions. These siderophores are recognized at the cell surface by specific outer membrane receptors, also known as TonB-dependent receptors. In addition, this bacterium is also able to incorporate many heterologous siderophores of bacterial or fungal origin, which is reflected by the presence of 3...

Genetic diversity of siderophore-producing bacteria of tobacco rhizosphere

The genetic diversity of siderophore-producing bacteria of tobacco rhizosphere was studied by amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis (ARDRA), 16S rRNA sequence homology and phylogenetics analysis methods. Studies demonstrated that 85% of the total 354 isolates produced siderophores in iron limited liquid medium. A total of 28 ARDRA patterns were identified among the 299 siderophore-produc...
